One Codebase, Two Platforms
Build iOS and Android together in Dart — roughly one project instead of two, so you launch faster and maintain less.
One codebase, both stores. We build fast, beautiful Flutter apps in Dart that ship to iOS and Android together — cutting cost and time to market without cutting quality.
Flutter is Google’s open-source toolkit for building one app, written in the Dart language, that runs on both Android and iPhone. Instead of paying for two separate native apps, you get one codebase published to the Play Store and the App Store. Infoways builds Flutter apps from Mahape, Navi Mumbai, for startups and businesses in Mumbai, Thane, Pune and across India.
This page also covers cross-platform development in general, and how Flutter compares with React Native, the other popular option. We build with both, so our advice is not tied to one tool. For most new business apps we recommend Flutter. If you already have a React website or JavaScript developers, React Native can be the better fit. And for a few hardware-heavy apps, native Android or iOS is still worth the extra cost.

The three main ways to build for Android and iPhone, side by side.
| 1Flutter | 2React Native | 3Native (Kotlin + Swift) | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Codebases | One, in Dart | One, in JavaScript or TypeScript | Two, one per platform |
| How screens are drawn | Its own engine, same look on every phone | The phone’s own native components | The phone’s own native components |
| Best for | Branded design, MVPs, teams starting fresh | Teams with React or JavaScript skills | Hardware-heavy or platform-specific apps |
| Small fixes without a store release | Limited | Possible, within store rules | No |
| Build and upkeep effort | One team, one codebase | One team, one codebase | Roughly double |
The full comparison is in our Flutter vs React Native guide. For an overview of every approach, see mobile app development.
Cross-platform means writing one app that runs on Android and iOS, instead of building and maintaining two. Flutter and React Native are the two mature choices today. Both reach the camera, GPS, push notifications, payments, biometrics and Bluetooth through ready-made plugins, and both are used by large companies: Google Pay is built with Flutter, and Shopify moved its mobile apps to React Native.
It suits most of the apps businesses ask for: booking and enquiry apps, ordering and delivery apps, customer accounts and loyalty, field staff and attendance apps, and the customer, partner and admin apps behind an on-demand service. Where an app needs unusual hardware, like a particular label printer, a Flutter app can call small pieces of native code, so the choice is rarely all or nothing.
Ask three questions. First, does your brand need to look exactly the same on every phone, with custom animation? Flutter is stronger there, because it draws every pixel itself. Second, does your company already have a React website or JavaScript developers? Then React Native lets them reuse their skills, and sometimes their code. Third, who will maintain the app in three years? Pick the framework that team knows well.
If none of these points one way, either is fine. In a well-built booking or ordering app, users will not notice a speed difference; poor code slows an app far more than the framework does.
We agree the version-one features and confirm that every device feature and SDK you need, such as the payment gateway, maps or a Bluetooth printer, has a reliable Flutter plugin.
A clickable prototype in your brand style, with small changes where Android and iPhone users expect different behaviour, like back navigation and date pickers.
App, backend APIs and admin panel built in sprints. You get builds on your Android phone and, through TestFlight, on your iPhone.
Play Store and App Store listings, privacy details and review, handled from one release pipeline.
Flutter saves money because one team writes one codebase instead of two. But the framework is a small part of the bill. The number of screens and user types, the backend and admin panel, and integrations like UPI payments, live tracking, chat or your ERP decide most of the cost.
A focused MVP usually launches in about 6–10 weeks. Bigger apps are delivered in phases over several months. Read app development cost in India, how long it takes to build an app and, if you are planning a delivery or booking service, our lessons from Uber for on-demand apps.
Be careful with cross-platform if the app is mainly a 3D game, an AR experience, or depends on deep control of the device.
A common mistake is treating one codebase as “build once and forget”. The app still has to be tested on both platforms, both stores still review every release, and Android and iOS each bring out new versions every year that need updates. Budget for that upkeep from the start.

Ask on WhatsAppYes — Flutter is production-proven and used by major apps worldwide. For the vast majority of business apps it delivers native-quality performance at lower cost and faster time to market.
Flutter is ideal when you want both iOS and Android efficiently. We recommend native only when your app needs deep, platform-specific capabilities — and we’ll tell you honestly which fits.
Yes — we design it to feel right on each platform, and Flutter renders a consistent, polished UI everywhere.
Completely — clean, documented Dart code that any competent Flutter developer can maintain. No lock-in.
For most new business apps, Flutter, because it gives full design control and one consistent look on every phone. If your company already uses React or JavaScript, React Native is often the better fit. We build with both and recommend based on your app and your team.
Yes, but it means rewriting the app, not converting it automatically. It is worth doing only when the current app is hard to maintain or needs a major redesign anyway. We review the existing app first and tell you honestly whether to rewrite or improve what you have.
