What an interior design studio needs online

Homeowners rarely pick an interior designer from one visit. They save photos for weeks, compare three or four studios, and ask everyone in the housing society WhatsApp group. When they finally call, they want to see work similar to their own flat, a rough budget for their carpet area, and some sign that you finish on time. A good website answers those three questions before the first call.

After the order is signed, the problem changes. A 2 BHK fit-out has dozens of moving parts: civil changes, electrical points, false ceiling, modular kitchen, wardrobes, laminates and veneer, hardware, painting, loose furniture and decor. Clients want to know what is happening at site without driving there every evening. Designers want approvals in writing so that a change of laminate in week six does not become a fight over money at handover.

This page is for independent designers, small studios with their own carpentry teams, and turnkey firms handling several sites at once in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Thane and Pune. The software stays simple for small studios and grows as you add supervisors and sites.

Infoways is a web, app and software company in Mahape, Navi Mumbai. We build the website, the quotation and project tools, and the client app as one connected system, so a lead from the site becomes a quotation, then a project, without anyone retyping details.

Problems We Solve

Where interior projects leak time and money

Most of these happen after the design is approved, not before.

Enquiries that never fit

Calls from people wanting a full 3 BHK for the price of one wardrobe waste your evenings. A budget estimator and qualifying form questions sort leads before you call back.

Quotations take days

Building a BOQ in Excel from scratch for each client is slow and error-prone. A rate library for carcass, shutters, laminates, hardware and labour builds a quote in minutes.

Verbal changes, disputed bills

A client asks for a different finish on site, and the extra cost is a surprise later. Change requests in the app, with the price difference approved by the client, end that.

Clients chasing updates

Repeated "what is happening at site?" calls eat your day. Supervisors upload dated photos from site, and clients see them in their app.

Margins that vanish

Material wastage, extra carpenter days and rate changes eat profit you only notice at the end. Quoted vs actual costing per project shows it while you can still act.

Handover drags on

Small snags keep a project open for weeks and hold back the final payment. A room-by-room snag list with photos and sign-off closes it cleanly.

Choose By Stage

What to build at each stage of your studio

You do not need everything on day one. Most studios grow through these three stages.

Typical ranges, GST extra, depending on scope. A WordPress website keeps the starting stage at the lower end.

Example: one 2 BHK project from enquiry to handover

Say you run a studio in Kharghar with two designers, one site supervisor and a carpentry team you trust. The numbers below are only to show the flow. A couple who have just got possession of a 2 BHK in Ulwe find your website while searching for interior designers nearby. They use the estimator, pick "full home, mid-range finish" for 650 sq ft carpet, and see a broad range. They submit the form with their possession date and a photo of the floor plan.

The lead lands in your admin panel and on WhatsApp. Your designer calls the next morning, books a site visit, and measures. Back at the studio, she opens the BOQ builder, picks the kitchen layout, wardrobe sizes and false ceiling area, chooses laminate and hardware from your rate library, and the quotation is ready the same day with item-wise rates and a payment schedule in stages.

The client signs and pays the booking amount. Moodboards and 3D renders go to their app for approval, room by room. Once approved, the supervisor’s app gets the work list. Every evening he uploads photos of the kitchen carcass, the ceiling framing and the electrical points, and marks what is done. The client sees progress without calling anyone.

In week five, the client asks for a fluted panel behind the TV unit. The designer adds it as a change request with its price; the client approves it in the app. At the end, the snag list catches a misaligned shutter and a missing light point. Both are fixed and signed off, the final stage payment is collected, and the project closes. In the admin panel, you see quoted versus actual cost, and that the extra carpenter days were in the kitchen.

How We Build It

How Infoways builds an interior design system

  1. 01

    Understand how you quote

We sit with your team and map how you price a kitchen, a wardrobe and a ceiling today, including units (running foot, sq ft, numbers) and how you build in margin.

  2. 02

    Website and portfolio design

We plan the gallery around room types and budgets, compress images without losing quality, and write locality pages for the areas you actually serve.

  3. 03

    Quotation and project tools

We build the rate library, BOQ builder and project stages first, so your team starts using them on live projects early and tells us what to fix.

  4. 04

    Client and supervisor app

Photo uploads that work on weak site networks, approvals, payment stages and the snag list, tested with a supervisor on a real site.

  5. 05

    Launch and training

We publish the app on Google Play and the App Store, and train designers, supervisors and accounts on their own screens.

  6. 06

    Get found locally

We set up your Google Business Profile and local SEO so homeowners in your areas find your work first.

Integrations

Tools and integrations interior studios use

  • WhatsApp Business API to send new leads, quotes and site updates
  • Razorpay, PhonePe PG or Cashfree for booking amounts and stage payments by UPI
  • GST invoices and receipts that your accountant can match in Tally
  • Upload of 3D renders and walkthroughs exported from SketchUp, 3ds Max or similar tools
  • 360-degree panorama viewer for render previews in the client app
  • Image compression and a CDN so heavy portfolio photos load fast on phones
  • Google Maps for site locations and supervisor check-in
  • Meta and Google lead forms flowing into the same lead pipeline
  • Shiprocket or a courier API if you sell decor and lighting online

Cost and timeline for interior design software

A portfolio website with galleries, enquiry forms, a budget estimator and locality pages sits in the typical business website range of Rs 1-4 lakh. Adding a client app with progress photos, approvals and payment stages, plus an admin panel with the BOQ builder, is a mid-complexity build, typically Rs 4-12 lakh. A turnkey firm’s full system with vendor work orders, site attendance, costing and an online decor store can go into the Rs 12-40 lakh range. A decor store on its own, built custom, is typically Rs 6-15 lakh, and lower on Shopify or WooCommerce. All ranges are GST extra and depend on scope.

The biggest cost driver is the quotation logic. A rate library with fixed items is simple; formulas that work out sheet usage, edge banding and hardware counts from cabinet sizes take longer. Other drivers are how many user roles you need (designer, supervisor, accounts, vendor) and whether you want the store linked to your project stock.

A website usually takes 3-6 weeks, most of it waiting for good photos. The app and admin take around 3-5 months. Yearly upkeep is usually 15-25% of the build cost. For the detail behind each figure, read app development cost in India and our guide to ecommerce website cost.

When not to build an app yet

If you are running one or two sites at a time, an app is probably early. A strong portfolio website, a clear quote template and an organised WhatsApp routine will do more for you this year. Build the app when the number of sites makes it impossible for you to personally keep every client informed.

Do not launch a portfolio with stock photos or renders passed off as finished sites. Homeowners who visit a real project will notice, and the trust is gone. Label renders as renders and real photos as completed work. Ten honest projects beat fifty borrowed images.

And do not let software fix your pricing for you. If your rates for carcass, shutters and labour are not settled, a BOQ tool will only produce wrong quotes faster. Settle your rate card with your carpenters and vendors first; we then build it into the system. Our guide on custom software vs off-the-shelf helps if you are deciding between a ready tool and your own.

Let your work bring the right clients

Start with a portfolio site that filters enquiries, and add the client app when you are ready.

Interior design websites and apps: common questions

Can the website give homeowners a price before they call?

Yes, as a broad range. The estimator asks for flat type, carpet area, scope and finish level, and shows a range based on your own rates. It sets expectations and filters out enquiries that do not fit your budget band.

Can I build quotations with my own rates?

Yes. Your rates for carcass, shutters, laminates, veneer, hardware, ceiling and labour are stored in a rate library. The BOQ builder uses them, and you can still edit any line before sending the quote.

How do clients see site progress?

Your supervisor uploads dated photos and notes from site through his app. The client sees them in their own app, room by room, along with which stage is complete and which payment is due next.

Will photo uploads work on weak site networks?

Yes. Photos are compressed on the phone and queued, so they upload when the signal returns. This matters in new buildings where the network inside the flat is often poor.

Can clients approve designs and changes in the app?

Yes. Moodboards, 3D renders and change requests are sent for approval, and the app records who approved what and when. This written trail prevents arguments about extra costs later.

Can I show 3D renders and walkthroughs?

Yes. You keep designing in your usual software and upload the exported renders, videos or 360-degree panoramas. The app shows them to the client; it does not replace your design tools.

Can I sell furniture and decor online too?

Yes. A store can sit on the same website, with products, cart, UPI and card payments, and courier shipping. If you only sell to project clients, the items can instead be added straight into their quotation.

Does the system handle GST invoices?

It can raise GST invoices and receipts for each payment stage, in a format your accountant can match in Tally. Your CA should confirm the GST treatment for your type of contract.

How long does a portfolio website take?

Usually 3-6 weeks. The design and build are quick; the time goes into collecting good photos and project details. Having them ready shortens the project.
